As one of the most beautiful marine parks in Kenya, the Mombasa marine park is among the most visited places in the coast region. Opened in 1986 to protect the coral reefs, the marine park is characterized by the warm azure ocean, swaying coconut palms on the white sandy beaches. The marine park is located between Mtwapa and Tudor Creeks and provides plenty of activities for its visitors. Go for windsurfing, water skiing, snorkeling, and diving in the magnificent blue waters.  Enjoy some shopping at the Bombolulu Workshop & Cultural Center.

The Cultural Center is a non-profit organization in conjunction with the Association of the physically disabled in Kenya. Working with more than 100 persons with different abilities, Bombolulu workshop and cultural Center has four sheltered workshops producing a range of jewelry, textile, and leather products. If shopping is on your agenda while in Mombasa, visit the Bombolulu workshop and buy unique handcrafted souvenirs inspired by local communities and vibrant cultures.

 Spot crocodiles at the Mamba Village

Located in Upmarket Nyali, Mombasa’s mamba village is the largest crocodile farm in East Africa. Visiting The mamba village is a must-do activity while visiting this coastal city. Enjoy the sights of these fascinating amphibians as you learn about their life cycle and behaviors. Among the highlights of your visit, you can get a chance to hold baby crocs and watch crocodiles fight for meals during their feeding time.  Feed Giraffes at Haller Park

The Haller Park is a thriving nature reserve transformed from abandoned limestone quarries, a host to various wildlife. The Park consists of a Game Sanctuary, Reptile Park, small demonstration Fish Farm area, Palm Garden, Crocodile pens, and a giraffe viewing platform, with a range of attractions to educate and delight the Park’s over 160,000 annual visitors. Birds are also abundant in the Park, with more than 160 different species to sight. If you would love to see more wildlife, the Nguuni Wildlife sanctuary is about 15 minutes drive away to enjoy a closer encounter with more animals.

 Visit Old Town

Old Town is reminiscent of when the Portuguese ruled this important port. The town’s inhabitants are mostly of Arab, Asian, and European origin, with the architecture reflecting their cultures. Ornately carved doors and balconies adorn the old buildings that jostle cheek to jowl along the narrow streets. History buffs can easily spend a couple of hours here, strolling along the atmospheric alleys and shopping for antiques, fragrant oils, spices, and souvenirs.  Tour Fort Jesus

Built in the 15 century by the Portuguese, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is among the top attractions in Mombasa. Italian architect Cairati designed the structure, one of the world’s finest examples of 16th-century Portuguese military architecture. The fort Jesus exhibits a vast collection of ceramics and pottery reflecting the various cultures traded along the coast. Go wildlife spotting in the Shimba Hills nature reserve.

Located about 33 kilometers south of Mombasa, the Shimba hills nature reserve offers a peaceful gateway from the busy beach resorts.
