5 Best Places to See Cheetahs in Africa
The Number of cheetahs in Africa is decreasing due to human-wildlife conflict, and habitat loss due to other predators such as lions. It might be the hardest to spot a cheetah in Africa than spotting a leopard.
Many confuse a leopard and cheetah, due to their print. A simple trick to differentiate them is by site and teardrops. A Leopard is short and a bit heavy while a cheetah is tall, slender, and with long legs. A cheetah has teardrop markings at the bottom of its eyes, which leopards don’t have.

Kenya: With so few remaining cheetahs in the wild, seeing one is a truly remarkable experience in Kenya. Famous for its big cat sightings in general, the Masai Mara’s open plains are the perfect habitat for these lithe felines.
The Mara is also home to a great number of hyenas and big cats which means that if a cheetah does catch its prey, they are often bullied off their kill. You can spot these big cats in Samburu N. Reserve, Masai Mara, Tsavo N. Park, and Major Kenyan Conservancies.

Tanzania: Moving South and you will find the famous Serengeti in Tanzania and Namiri Plains is possibly the best place to almost guarantee cheetah sightings. With no other camp for miles around, Asilia’s Namiri has access to the old conservation plains in the East of the Serengeti where cheetahs have thrived.
Over the years, numbers have grown rapidly and it probably has one of the highest densities of cheetah in Africa. In Tanzania, they are commonly spotted in Serengeti N. Park, Ruaha National Park, Selous N. Reserve, Tarangire N. Park, and other Major safaris destinations.

South Africa: Although the open grassy plains are not as prevalent in Southern Africa as they are in the East, the Greater Kruger is one of the best places for cheetah sightings.
The Kruger National Park is home to about thirty-three percent of Africa’s cheetah population within its boundaries and a stay at Singita’s Lebombo or Sweni Lodge certainly gives you a chance to see one.

Botswana: Botswana is one of the largest countries in Southern Africa. Hosts one of the largest parks and wildlife protection areas known as the Okavango Delta. There are other wildlife-protected areas in Botswana where you can spot cheetahs in Africa easily.
The best places to see cheetahs in Botswana include the Okavango Delta, Linyanti (in particular Kwando), Selinda & Savute, and Northern Botswana.
Namibia: Namibia is home to Cheetahs as well and adds to the best places to spot cheetahs in Africa. While in Namibia, you can see cheetahs in Etosha National Park, Okonjima Conservancy, and the Kalahari Deserts.
