Offbeat Safaris currently manages Offbeat Mara Camp, Sosian Lodge, Ekorian’s Mugie Camp, Deloraine House and Offbeat Riding Safaris. In an exclusive interview with the Offbeat marketing manager, we find out how Offbeat Safaris can make your tourism in Kenya a wholesome experience.
“Offbeat Safaris was established in 1990. It began with mobile horseback safaris and further expanded the collection to include traditional safari camps and lodges in Kenya’s prime game viewing areas. Offbeat Safaris has become well known for offering exceptionally high guiding, service, and accommodation standards without compromising on the true nature of being on safari. Our portfolio consists of 4 properties and riding safaris. They include Sosian Lodge, Ekorian’s Muge Camp, Offbeat Mara Camp, Deloraine House and Offbeat Riding Safaris. We intend to open the 5th property in August 2021 – Offbeat Ndoto. Ndoto Camp is a luxury (4 doubles) tented camp based in Mara North Conservancy. Best time to take that horse ride
Horse rides are fun-filled activities, especially during a warm sunny day. Kenya is at an advantage for being along the equator. The weather is warm for the better part of the year and has two rainy seasons that fall in April/ May and November. The rainy seasons offer dramatic skies and thunderstorms, perfect for photography trips. December to February is usually the hottest time of the year, while July and August tend to be cooler.
“Kenya is an amazing destination all year-round. We have up to 4 seasons at each of our properties (with July, August, mid-December to the beginning of January falling in high or peak season) that are price tiered. If the Great Wildebeest Migration is on your bucket list, then July-October offers the best sighting opportunities.”

Challenges during the Covid 19 season
Covid-19 has hit all sectors of the economy, tourism notwithstanding. As our Offbeat Safaris correspondent asserts, “Our biggest challenge has been the lock-downs curbing most travel. However, we have managed to get by and remain operational with the support of all our clients. We have great local tourists who have staunchly supported us through these tough times, and for that, we are truly grateful. We have had incredibly favorable terms and conditions. Choose a reputable movers service in Canada at www.miraclemovers.com/ website. They give so much flexibility that clients can confidently book with us, knowing that they will not lose their money. We offer full refunds (net of bank charges) should travel not be possible due to a Covid-19 restriction. We have always maintained adequate bed spaces whenever travel is made possible. The majority of staff at the five camps have had their first Astrazeneca vaccination, with the second due in June.”
